Chemokines in inflammatory bowel disease.

چکیده
C hemokines (chemotactic cytokines) are small (7–10 kDa) heparin binding proteins that govern the migration of circulating leucocytes to the sites of inflammation. Chemokines, currently numbering more than 50, are classified into four supergene families based on cysteine residues: CXC, CC, C, and CX3C chemokines (table 1). Chemokines are distinguished from other cytokines by acting on the G protein coupled serpentine receptors. Chemokines are classified into constitutively secreted and inducible. Those that are constitutively secreted are homeostatic chemokines directing basal leucocyte trafficking and the organisation of the lymphoid tissue. Inducible chemokines are inflammatory molecules responsible for mediating the recruitment of leucocyte effector populations to the sites of immune reaction and tissue injury.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a chronic disorder characterized by recurrent and serious inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Genetic, immunologic and environmental factors all contribute to the pathogenesis of IBD. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis represent 2 common forms of IBD. Recent discovery of Crohn's disease-associated gene mutations suggests that compensation of disru...

Background and aims: In diagnosing inflammatory bowel disease, one of diagnostic way is upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, which helps in differential diagnosis of unspecified colitis as well. The aim of this study was to investigate the necessity of upper gastrointestinal endoscopy in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional...
متن کاملComparison of Coping Strategies in People with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Healthy People in Terms of Health Locus of Control
Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a group of disorders that cause chronic inflammation (pain and swelling) in the intestines. IBD includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Both types affect the digestive system. The study aims to compare coping strategies in people with inflammatory bowel disease and healthy people, according to internal and external sources of health contr...
متن کاملTumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) and Chemokines in Colitis-Associated Cancer
The connection between inflammation and tumorigenesis has been well established, based on a great deal of supporting evidence obtained from epidemiological, pharmacological, and genetic studies. One representative example is inflammatory bowel disease, because it is an important risk factor for the development of colon cancer. Moreover, intratumoral infiltration of inflammatory cells suggests t...
متن کاملApplication of extracellular vesicles in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease
Introduction: Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is caused by genetic, environmental, microbial and immune factors. IBD has two primary forms: Ulcerative colitis and Crohn´s disease. The incidence of IBD has significantly increased over the last few decades. Given that patients have poor response to drug treatments or are resistant to drug therapies, new therapies are needed for gastrointestinal i...
